Brat Fry 2016 – another successful year!
The brat fry is our yearly fund raiser that helps to defray the costs of insurance and other club operating expenses as well as provides funds for equipment upgrades that are needed. On April 30, 2016 we held our brat fry at the South Side Piggly Wiggly in Sheboygan.
This year John AB9HH and Linda K9TZU were gracious enough to organize this year’s event. Other members stepped to to lend a hand at our only fund raiser for the year.
The Wisconsin QSO Party is an annual event when WE get to be “the DX”! Read all about it at the Wisconsin QSO Party web site.
The WIQP features 7 hours of non-stop fun. If you’ve never been brave enough to call CQ or weren’t sure you’d enjoy contesting, this is the place to try! The contest is scheduled for the 2nd Sunday in March . What’s your operating pleasure? CW – Phone – Digital – VHF – High Power – Low Power – QRP – fixed – mobile – try them all!
2018’s event this year will again be held on the first day of daylight savings time – Sunday – March 11 – 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. CDT
We had great participation at this year’s Maywood September 16, 2017 event. A last-minute blown power supply added to the excitement of the day for the volunteers. Almost 400 riders participated this year.
Thank you to anyone who helped in anyway, and thanks to John AB9HH and Linda K9TZU for all of their behind-the-scenes work.
This event conjures up many different things for many people. For some, it’s all about getting as many contacts as possible in the time allotted. For others, it’s the social time spent on the breaks between CW, PSK, RTTY or Phone contacts. For others, it might be just hanging out with fellow hams, having a few sodas, some food and fun.
Field Day 2016 was held June 25-26. The club has two rigs and antennas setup for HF and an additional radio and antenna for VHF/UHF operating.
The club also hosted a digital GOTA (Get On The Air) station.
