Field Day 2018———it was a success!
Setup began at 9:00 a.m. at the Town of Sheboygan Firehouse Park. In total, the club had 3 operating stations on 40m, 20m and 80m, along with 2 club members who also set up with us, but operated under their own call sign. We had a few technical challenges, but worked them out in true amateur radio fashion, trouble-shooting and trying something else until it all worked! Special thanks to Don K9MOI and Doug AB9QP for their behind the scenes work – a 30′ antenna with an HF beam set up – all with the push of a button!
We operated from about 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and totalled 115+ contacts with mostly casual operating – even picking up QSO’s between our own group, who were just a few hundred feet away! We had a few friends and neighbors stop by – there was plenty of parking for visitors and the park itself has quite a bit of foot traffic.
Rather than frying out, as in the past, food and beverages were BYO. Miesfeld’s Brat Barn came in handy, with their store being about a mile away from the park.
Join us next year – the fourth full weekend in June for Field Day 2019!
Thanks again to Dick W9TA for arranging our Holiday Party. We had 15 attendees, who enjoyed a fine evening of amateur radio camaraderie. The food was great and the waitstaff was attentive, as always. Hope you can join us next year!
Brat Fry 2016 – another successful year!
The brat fry is our yearly fund raiser that helps to defray the costs of insurance and other club operating expenses as well as provides funds for equipment upgrades that are needed. On April 30, 2016 we held our brat fry at the South Side Piggly Wiggly in Sheboygan.
This year John AB9HH and Linda K9TZU were gracious enough to organize this year’s event. Other members stepped to to lend a hand at our only fund raiser for the year.
